What Is an Expungement?

Expungement removes public access to a criminal record. That means the police and courts will erase information about the case from their files, effectively blocking employers and background check services from learning about the case. However, the government usually retains evidence of the case for select purposes, such as if you apply for a job that requires a security clearance.

In the State of Maryland, certain charges and citations can be expunged under the law (Maryland Criminal Procedure Code, Title 10). However, not every charge or citation qualifies. Whether your record can be expunged depends on several things, including the type of charge, the outcome of the case, and how much time has passed.

You have the right to file for expungement on your own at no cost through the Maryland courts. Our website offers a value-added convenience service: for a flat fee of $250.00 per charge or citation, the Law Office of Mike Rothman handles the paperwork and filing process for you, saving you time and effort.

Fill out the form below to submit a charge or citation for expungement review. Please make sure all information you provide is correct. Incorrect information may delay your request or cause it to be denied.
